Sumo Farm is a 50 acre holding on the red soil plateau overlooking the village of Bangalow. Due to the mild subtropical climate many crops can be produced all year.

Some temperate and fully tropical varieties will also grow.

Roughly half of the vegetable crop constitutes potatoes, mostly gourmet varieties, and these are grown in 4 plantings per year – February, April, June, and August. This ensures production will cater for demand for at least 10 months of the year.

Most other vege crops either follow or precede the potato crops, particularly edamame and sweet corn, which are ideal rotation crops with potatoes.

Asparagus are in permanent beds, totalling about 3000 individual plants.

Sumo Farm also produces orchard crops including fingerlimes, lemons, Tahitian limes, pineapples and papaya.

On Farm Bakehouse
Sumo Farm has an on farm bakehouse producing delicious sourdough loaves , sweet pastries , cakes and biscuits for the Bangalow farmers market.
